ABOUT…<\/FONT><\/STRONG><\/P> Heartsdales From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia <\/FONT><\/SPAN> <\/P> <\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/B> <\/P> Heartsdales<\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/B> was a <\/FONT>Japanese hip hop<\/SPAN><\/A> group composed of sisters Yumi Sugiyama (<\/FONT><\/SPAN>\u6749\u5c71\u30e6\u30df<\/SPAN>,<\/SPAN><\/FONT> Sugiyama Yumi<\/I><\/FONT>?<\/SPAN><\/B><\/A><\/SUP>) and Emi Sugiyama (<\/FONT><\/SPAN>\u6749\u5c71\u30a8\u30df<\/SPAN>,<\/SPAN><\/FONT> Sugiyama Emi<\/I><\/FONT>?<\/SPAN><\/B><\/A><\/SUP>), known by their stage names Rum and Jewels, respectively. Yumi was born on <\/FONT>December 17<\/SPAN><\/A>, <\/FONT>1981<\/SPAN><\/A>, and Emi on <\/FONT>December 4<\/SPAN><\/A>, <\/FONT>1976<\/SPAN><\/A> in <\/FONT>Tokyo<\/SPAN><\/A>, <\/FONT>Japan<\/SPAN><\/A>. Their family moved to the <\/FONT>Yonkers<\/SPAN><\/A> area of <\/FONT>New York<\/SPAN><\/A> right after Yumi was born, due to their father’s job as an interior designer. In 1995, the family moved back to Japan, and Yumi attended Tama Art University and Emi attended Keio University. In summer 2001, Yumi and Emi appeared on the TV audition program <\/FONT>ASAYAN<\/SPAN><\/A>. They won the competition, and landed a contract with <\/FONT>AVEX<\/SPAN><\/A> Entertainment . They adopted the name “Heartsdales” as a reference to the hamlet of <\/FONT>Hartsdale, New York<\/SPAN><\/A>. They released their first album, Radioactive<\/I>, in 2002 under <\/FONT>AVEX Record’s<\/SPAN><\/A> sublabel Cutting Edge. Their first single, “So Tell Me,” was ranked 6th on the Oricon music rankings. Since then, they released 6 albums and 14 singles. Artimage is Heartsdales’ management office, who also manages other Japanese hip-hop artists such as <\/FONT>m-flo<\/SPAN><\/A> and <\/FONT>Double<\/SPAN><\/A>. On <\/FONT>June 22<\/SPAN><\/A>, <\/FONT>2006<\/SPAN><\/A>, Heartsdales announced on their official website that they were going to break-up to pursue new endeavors. <\/FONT>[1]<\/SPAN><\/A> Yumi now lives in New York City and has started a design studio, “Studio Yumi,” (<\/FONT>http:\/\/www.studioyumi.com<\/SPAN><\/A>) and attends the <\/FONT>Parsons The New School for Design<\/SPAN><\/A>.
